STRENGTH WITHIN SIMPLICITY

Daikoku is a reproduction of one of Chojiro’s most iconic Raku tea bowls, a form that has been cherished by tea practitioners for more than 450 years.

Though restrained in appearance, the bowl possesses a remarkable presence—an expression of the quiet strength that lies at the heart of the tea ceremony.

Crafted by Shoraku Kiln using traditional Raku techniques, Daikoku embodies the balance of weight, texture, and form that has inspired generations of tea practitioners.

A bowl that reveals more the longer it is held, used, and contemplated.

A TRADITION BORN FOR TEA

A TRADITION BORN FOR TEA

Raku ware is one of Japan’s most celebrated ceramic traditions, developed in Kyoto more than 450 years ago alongside the evolution of the tea ceremony.

Unlike most ceramics, Raku bowls are shaped entirely by hand rather than on a potter’s wheel. This process creates a softness and individuality that cannot be replicated mechanically.

Removed from the kiln while still glowing with heat, each bowl carries the marks of fire, air, and chance. No two pieces are ever exactly alike.

For centuries, tea practitioners have treasured Raku ware for its warmth, lightness, and intimate connection to the hand. It reflects the values at the heart of tea: simplicity, impermanence, and the beauty found in natural irregularity.
