THE TOOL THAT BRINGS MATCHA TO LIFE

Handcrafted from Japanese black bamboo by traditional craftsmen in Takayama, Nara—the birthplace of Japan’s tea whisk tradition.

Each whisk is individually carved and shaped, transforming matcha and water into the smooth, vibrant bowl that defines the tea experience.

Made in the Shin style, a classic form favored for its balance, elegance, and versatility.
THE TRADITION OF TAKAYAMA CHASEN

THE TRADITION OF TAKAYAMA CHASEN

For more than 500 years, Takayama has been Japan’s center of tea whisk making.

Unlike mass-produced whisks, authentic Takayama chasen are carved entirely by hand from a single piece of bamboo. Every tine is carefully split, shaped, and refined through a process passed down through generations.

Today, only a small number of traditional craftsmen continue this practice, preserving one of the most important tools in Japanese tea culture.
