For more than 500 years, Takayama has been Japan’s center of tea whisk making.

Unlike mass-produced whisks, authentic Takayama chasen are carved entirely by hand from a single piece of bamboo. Every tine is carefully split, shaped, and refined through a process passed down through generations.

Today, only a small number of traditional craftsmen continue this practice, preserving one of the most important tools in Japanese tea culture.
