#001 is TEOWA’s first original blend, created together with Uejima-san in Wazuka, Kyoto.
After deeply exploring the individuality of each cultivar, we became fascinated by the idea of combining them — much like composing a dish — to pursue balance and even flavors we had never experienced before.
Combining GOKO — a historic Uji cultivar known for deep umami — with YABUKITA, Japan’s most widely cultivated tea cultivar, and SAEMIDORI, celebrated for its low bitterness and rich sweetness, #001 became the first expression of that exploration.
Its character is defined by layered depth and a distinctive nutty flavor.
