TEOWA creates a moment to pause.
I found myself growing tired of the relentless pace of modern life, and began seeking stillness.
Through encounters with Japanese tea culture and craftsmanship, I came to realize that essence reveals itself in silence.
From this awareness, TEOWA was born—not as objects, but as a journey into stillness through the five senses.
The taste of matcha, the scent of hinoki, the sound of clear water, the texture of haori, and a space where light and shadow quietly unfold.
My journey is also yours—
for those who seek stillness in the midst of chaos.
Together, we shape a life that is quiet, and deeply rich.

Rediscovering Japan
After moving from Japan to New York, I began to see my own culture through new eyes.
What once felt familiar revealed an unexpected depth of beauty, wisdom, and craftsmanship.
Living far from home gave me a renewed appreciation for the traditions, aesthetics, and values that had quietly shaped my life.
This realization inspired a personal mission: to share the spirit of Japanese culture with the world.
Entering the World of Tea
I began studying the Japanese tea ceremony.
Week after week, the practice taught me to slow down, pay attention, and appreciate the beauty hidden in simple moments.
Tea became more than a drink—it became a way of seeing.
Going Deeper
The journey led me to Uji, Kyoto, the birthplace of Japanese matcha.
I joined tea harvests, visited farmers and craftsmen, tasted more than 300 matcha, purchased my own stone mills, and spent countless hours experimenting and learning.
What started as curiosity became a lifelong pursuit.
The Beginning of TEOWA
TEOWA began with a question:
How can we bring more stillness into modern life?
The search led us across Japan—through nature, craftsmanship, and centuries of wisdom.
What we found was more than tea.
It was a way of seeing.
A way of living.
What Matters to Us
Guided by Nature. Shaped by Hand.
MATERIAL
We begin with the source.
From single-cultivar matcha to century-old hinoki, every material is selected for its character, origin, and integrity.
We believe great products begin long before they are made.
CRAFTSMANSHIP
Behind every piece is a maker.
We work with farmers, artisans, and craftspeople who have dedicated their lives to mastering their craft.
Their knowledge, patience, and attention to detail shape everything we create.
WHY JAPAN?
Japan has spent centuries refining an idea:
That beauty is not found in excess.
It is found in attention.
A handmade bowl.
A wooden bath.
A carefully prepared cup of tea.
These are simple things.
Yet they remind us how to slow down and be present.
TEOWA draws inspiration from this philosophy and reimagines it for contemporary life.
OUR ONGOING EXPLORATION
TEOWA is constantly exploring Japan.

FROM OBJECTS TO SPACES

To help people rediscover stillness in everyday life.
